Complete Wood & Pallet Recycling Line

Case Study: Complete Wood & Pallet Recycling Line

.

The Challenge: Industrial Wood Shredding and Ferrous Contamination
A wood recycling facility required a heavy-duty, automated production line to process waste timber and used pallets into high-value biomass or animal bedding. The dual challenge involved achieving a consistently small particle size while simultaneously protecting downstream equipment from the heavy concentration of nails, staples, and iron fasteners found in construction-grade pallets. The blades needed to be exceptionally durable to withstand the impact of hidden metal without frequent fracturing.
.
Our Solution: Turnkey Shredding & Magnetic Separation Line
Our team designed and commissioned a complete wood recycling system focused on durability and purity:
  • Twin-Shaft Industrial Shredder: At the heart of the line is a high-torque twin-shaft shredder engineered for the primary and secondary reduction of bulk timber.
  • Heavy-Duty Hardox 450 Blades: Each shredder blade is manufactured from 30mm thick Hardox 450 wear-resistant steel. These specialized blades feature a 7-claw geometry, providing aggressive “bite” and a superior shear-cut for reduced energy consumption.
  • Integrated Drum Magnet: Following the shredding stage, the material is transported via a heavy-duty conveyor belt equipped with a powerful permanent drum magnet. This system automatically extracts nails and iron objects, ensuring the final wood chip is metal-free.
  • Precision Sizing: The 7-claw blade configuration ensures the final product is reduced to a uniform small fraction in a single pass, ideal for immediate use as feedstock.
.
The Result: Clean, High-Value Recycled Wood Output
Our installation provided a robust and profitable recycling solution:
  • Grade-A Wood Purity: The integrated magnetic separation successfully removed 99% of ferrous contaminants, allowing the client to sell their wood chips at premium market rates.
  • Long-Life Tooling: By utilizing Hardox 450 metallurgy, the plant achieved significantly longer intervals between blade rotations, reducing maintenance costs and operational downtime.
  • High-Volume Processing: The streamlined flow from the high-torque shredder to the discharge conveyor allowed for a continuous, high-throughput operation capable of handling mixed wood waste and full-sized pallets with ease.
