Industrial Ducting: High-Performance Polyurethane Hoses
.
BritSOLIDS is a leading UK supplier of Industrial Hoses, providing high-durability solutions for dust extraction, pneumatic conveying, and abrasive material handling. Known for their superior wear resistance, PU hoses outperform standard PVC alternatives in every industrial metric.
Why Specify Polyurethane (PU) Ducting?
For UK process engineers, the “price per metre” is only half the story. The true value of a PU hose lies in its longevity. Our Pre-PUR® polyurethane technology offers up to 5x the abrasion resistance of rubber or PVC, significantly reducing downtime and replacement costs.
- Superior Abrasion Resistance: Engineered for “high-friction” materials like glass cullet, gravel, and plastic granules.
- Microbe & Hydrolysis Resistant: Essential for humid environments or applications involving organic waste.
- Optimal Flow Dynamics: The smooth internal bore reduces turbulence, ensuring maximum efficiency in your Pneumatic Conveying lines.

Specialist Norres Hose Ranges
1. Abrasive Material Handling (AIRDUC® & PROTAPE®)
Designed for the suction and transport of abrasive solids. These wire-reinforced hoses are the industry standard for:
- Woodworking: High-flexibility extraction for sawdust and wood chips.
- Plastic Processing: Transporting abrasive polymer pellets and regrind.
- Construction: Suction of sand, stones, and insulation materials.
2. Food & Pharmaceutical Grade (Food Grade PU)
Our food-grade hoses comply with the latest EU and FDA regulations.
- Applications: Suction of flour, sugar, milk powder, and pharmaceutical granules.
- Safety: Odourless, tasteless, and transparent for easy visual inspection of the flow.
3. Antistatic & ATEX Rated Hoses
Static buildup in a flexible hose can lead to catastrophic dust explosions. Norres provides Antistatic (AS) and Electrically Conductive (EC) variants.
- Permanent Antistatic: Unlike surface-coated hoses, our antistatic properties are built into the material, meaning they don’t wear off over time.
- ATEX Compliance: Recommended for all powder handling in hazardous zones.

Technical Selection: Wall Thickness & Durability
UK engineers often specify hoses based on wall thickness to balance flexibility with wear life:
- Lightweight (0.4mm – 0.6mm): Best for air and dust extraction where high flexibility is required.
- Medium-Heavy (0.7mm – 1.0mm): The “all-rounder” for standard pneumatic conveying.
- Heavy Duty (1.2mm – 2.5mm+): Engineered for vacuum trucks and the most abrasive minerals.

Technical FAQ: Industrial Ducting
Q: Is PU better than standard PVC hose?
A: Yes. Polyurethane is significantly more flexible (even at low temperatures) and lasts much longer when handling abrasive materials. While the initial cost is slightly higher, the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is much lower due to fewer replacements.
Q: How do I ground a wire-reinforced hose?
A: To ensure electrical continuity, the internal steel wire must be bared at both ends and connected to the metal coupling or grounded to the machine frame. For high-risk areas, always use a Permanently Antistatic Norres hose.
Q: Can I use these hoses for hot air?
A: Standard PU hoses are rated up to +90°C. For higher temperatures, we offer specialized Norres variants capable of handling up to +260°C or even +1100°C for furnace extraction.
