The Challenge: Automating High-Precision Limestone Dosing
An insulation manufacturing plant required a fully automated, dual-line system to meter and weigh limestone powder with high repeatability. The challenge was to create a seamless link between bulk storage (Bulk Bags) and the final mixing stage, ensuring that each 300-litre batch met strict weight tolerances for product quality.

The Solution: Independent “Gain-in-Weight” Weighing Units
We engineered two independent, high-performance production lines, each featuring a coordinated three-stage process:
  • Bulk Bag (FIBC) Discharge: Heavy-duty unloading stations safely support the Tonne Bags, ensuring a consistent gravity feed into the transfer system.
  • Precision Auger Transport: High-torque inclined screw conveyors move the limestone from the bags to the weighing station. These augers are controlled to “drip-feed” the final kilograms for maximum accuracy.
  • 300L Weighing Hopper: The limestone is metered directly into a 300-litre batch weighing scale. This “Gain-in-Weight” hopper is suspended on high-precision load cells to monitor the batch in real-time.
  • Rapid Discharge: Each hopper is equipped with a Φ250mm high-end automatic butterfly valve, allowing for instantaneous discharge into the downstream mixer once the target weight is reached.

The Result: Synchronized Dual-Line Efficiency
The two independent units allow the plant to run two different recipes simultaneously or double their throughput of a single material. By automating the limestone metering, the client eliminated manual weighing errors and achieved a significantly faster batching cycle.
