A recycling facility needed a robust industrial shredder capable of processing high volumes of car tyres into a uniform 20mm granulate suitable for further processing or TDF (Tyre Derived Fuel) markets. The core challenge in tyre recycling is blade wear, which typically leads to high maintenance costs and frequent downtime.

The Solution: Reinforced Shredder with HARDOX Indexable Blades
We engineered a large, heavy-duty single shaft shredder (granulator type) designed with long-term operational costs in mind:
  • HARDOX Anti-Friction Steel: The rotating blades/pads are made from HARDOX anti-friction steel and secured onto super-reinforced brackets. This high-grade material is significantly more wear-resistant than standard steel, ensuring exceptional longevity.
  • Cost-Saving Indexable Design: As shown in our design photo (spare rotor blade, spacer, washer), the square blade pads are indexable. This means each pad can be rotated and used four times before replacement is necessary. This unique design drastically reduces the manufacturing and spare part costs.
  • Precise Granulation: A semi-cylindrical 20mm screen ensures that the material is retained in the cutting chamber until it reaches the required uniform size.
