The Challenge: High-Volume Industrial Slag Transport
A bin slag handling facility required a robust solution to transport abrasive, heavy materials over a significant distance. The primary challenge was to prevent material spillage and “rollback” while maintaining a high throughput over 17-metre spans. Traditional flat belts were insufficient for the volume of slag being processed, leading to waste and potential mechanical strain on the drive systems.

Our Solution: Heavy-Duty 3-Roll Troughed Conveyors
Our team engineered three large-scale troughed belt conveyors, specifically designed for the rigours of slag processing:
- V-Type 3-Roll Configuration: Each conveyor utilizes a triple-roller idler set to create a deep “V” trough. This increases material capacity and centres the load to prevent spillage.
- High-Torque Drive Drums: We integrated heavy-duty Φ400 mm driving drums to provide the necessary traction and torque to move heavy slag loads over the 17m length.
- Industrial-Scale Engineering: Each unit was built to handle the high density and abrasive nature of slag, ensuring structural integrity under constant load.
- Optimized Belt Tensioning: Designed to maintain consistent tracking over long distances, reducing wear on the belt edges and rollers.

The Result: Reliable, High-Capacity Bulk Handling
The installation of our troughed system provided a high-performance upgrade to the plant:
- Zero Spillage: The deep V-trough design successfully contained the slag, significantly reducing cleaning requirements and material loss.
