The core challenge was achieving a specific “shred profile” that allowed for efficient downstream processing. If the material is shredded too finely, it can cause issues in the pulping stage; if too large, it creates mechanical blockages.

- Pilot Phase Testing: Our initial design featured 15mm thick rotating blades. After onsite testing with the client’s engineers, it was determined that the resulting shred was too fine for their specific reclamation process.
- Rapid Re-engineering: To meet the new specification, we reconfigured the rotor assembly. By reassembling the modular blades in pairs, we increased the effective cutting width to 30mm (15mm + 15mm).
- Optimised Shear Action: This 30mm blade profile provided the perfect balance—successfully downsizing the bulky paper rolls while maintaining the structural integrity required for their automated recycling line.

The modified shredder now delivers a final product that is fully responsive to the plant’s further processing requirements.
