Screw Press for Expired Food Depackaging & Dewatering

15kW Industrial Screw Press for Expired Food Depackaging & Dewatering

.
The Challenge: Volume Reduction of High-Moisture Packaged Waste
A large-scale recycling facility required an efficient method to process bulk expired consumer goods, including tomato juice and yogurt cartons. The objective was to separate viscous liquid contents from Tetra Pak and paper packaging at the source. Without effective separation, the mixed waste remains wet, heavy, and bulky, leading to exorbitant landfill fees and transport costs.
.
The Solution: High-Torque Conical Dewatering Screw Press
We engineered a robust 15.0kW Depackaging Screw Press designed for aggressive solid-liquid separation:
  • Progressive Compression Technology: The unit features a specialized progressing pitch screw within a perforated conical housing. As the screw rotates, it applies increasing pressure to rupture packaging and squeeze out liquid.
  • Efficient Phase Separation: Extracted liquids (pressate) are captured in an integrated tank for potential anaerobic digestion or disposal, while the solid paper and plastic components are discharged as a dry, compacted “cake”.
  • High-Volume Infeed: A custom-built hopper allows for the bulk loading of palletized or loose expired stock, streamlining the depackaging process for high-throughput recycling lines.
.
The Result: Significant Savings in Waste Logistics
The 15kW press transformed the facility’s waste profile. By removing the liquid weight, the plant achieved a 50–70% reduction in waste volume and weight. The resulting dry solids are far easier to handle and recycle, providing a measurable ROI through drastically lower disposal and transportation expenses.
