Modular Pipework and Tubing Systems for Bulk Handling

.
BritSOLIDS offers a comprehensive range of Modular Pipework and Ducting, engineered specifically for bulk goods handling, dust extraction, and high-efficiency ventilation. Our systems utilize the industry-standard “lipped end” design, allowing for rapid, tool-free assembly using pull-ring connectors.
Why Specify Modular Pipework?
In the UK, traditional welded or flanged pipework is increasingly replaced by Modular Tubing Systems. The primary advantage is flexibility; if a line blocks or a process layout changes, the system can be dismantled and reconfigured in minutes without “hot work” permits or specialized welding equipment.
  • Rapid Installation: Pull-ring connections reduce assembly time by up to 45% compared to traditional flanged systems.
  • High Integrity: Despite the ease of assembly, our lipped-end pipes provide an airtight and leak-proof seal, suitable for both vacuum and overpressure environments.
  • Smooth Internal Bore: Laser-welded seams ensure a perfectly smooth internal surface, minimizing material hang-up and reducing pressure drop in Pneumatic Conveying lines.

Modular Pipework System – Technical Specifications & Materials

We provide modular components in various wall thicknesses to suit the abrasiveness of your product:
  • Lightweight (1mm): Ideal for dust extraction, mist collection, and general ventilation.
  • Heavy Duty (2mm – 3mm): Engineered for the gravity-fed transport of abrasive granules, cereals, and minerals.
Material Availability:
  • Mild Steel: Prime coated
  • Galvanised Steel: Cost-effective for general industrial and woodworking extraction.
  • Stainless Steel (AISI 304/316L): Essential for food-grade, pharmaceutical, and corrosive chemical applications.

Components of a Modular Tubing System

A complete Modular Pipework installation consists of precision-engineered components designed to fit together seamlessly:
  1. Straight Pipes: Available in standard lengths (500mm, 1000mm, 2000mm) with precision-lipped ends.
  2. Modular Bends: Pressed or segmented bends available in 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90° angles.
  3. Branch Pieces & Trouser Pieces: For splitting or combining product flows in gravity-fed systems.
  4. Pull-Rings & Seals: Choose between standard pull-rings or bolted clamps, fitted with U-shaped seals (NBR, Silicone, or Viton) to ensure a perfect fit.

Applications in UK Industry

  • Bulk Solids Handling: Ideal for gravity-fall lines in flour mills, plastic recycling, and animal feed plants.
  • Dust & Fume Extraction: High-speed assembly for CNC woodworking lines and chemical laboratories.
  • Pneumatic Conveying: Robust enough for dilute-phase transport of powders and pellets.

Technical FAQ: Modular Pipework

.
Q: Are these systems “Food Grade”?
A: Yes. When specified in 304 or 316 Stainless Steel with white FDA-compliant seals, our modular system meets the highest hygiene standards for UK food and pharma sectors.
.
Q: Can I connect modular pipework to existing machinery?
A: We supply a wide range of Machine Adapters and transition pieces to connect our lipped-end pipes to standard flanged or threaded equipment outlets.
.
Q: What pressure can these pipes handle?
A: Standard pull-ring systems are rated for ±0.5 bar. For higher pressures or heavy vacuum applications, we recommend using our bolted clamp range to ensure the lipped ends remain perfectly seated.

The smart lipped-ends piping system is applied to pipeworks for:

– free flow of bulk solid materials
– dust suction to a central filter unit
– pneumatic conveying up to 2.5 bar overpressure

It consists of tubes, bends, segments, T-pieces, branch pieces, cone pieces, butterfly valves, slide valves, 2-way valves, rotary manifolds, inspection pipes, telescopic tubes, and many other accessories. All these pieces have a lip (twisted tube at the ends) that is joined tightly with quick-connect clamps.

JACOB Germany piping systems hold the No. 1 place in Europe. This system is easy and quick to assemble because it comes loose and can be mounted without the need for welding, metal cutting, or adjusting with any tools. Also in future expansions of the pipework or during a total relocation of a pipeline all the pieces are disassembled and reused at 100%.

The piping system with lipped ends is available ready-to-deliver in standard dimensions from Φ 80 mm – Φ 630 mm in black painted, galvanized, or stainless steel in a thickness of 1, 2, or 3 mm.

They find application in all branches of industry such as flour mills, food, animal feed, tobacco industries, plastics, chemicals, building materials, detergents, medicines, etc.

Curves

PIPE CURVES (BENDS)

Lipped piping systems include 90° bends with radius R = 1D, R = 2D, R = 5D, etc. There are also 15, 30, 45, and 60 deg. bend segments..

Cone pieces

CONE REDUCTION PIECES

Piping systems with lip include various contractions e.g. Φ300 / Φ150 mm with conical shape. There are also “figures”, ie contractions from square to round in various dimensions.

T-pieces and Branch pieces

T-PIECES & BRANCH PIECES

Lipped piping systems include T-pieces (90° shears) and half T-pieces, 30° branch, and 45° branch pieces.

Visual control tubes

FLOW MONITORING PIPES (SIGHT-GLASS-PIPES)

Lipped ends piping systems include plexi-glass tubing for visual control of product flow. They are applied to air transport networks as well as to free-flow pipes.

Jointed pipes

BALL-JOINT PIPES

Lipped pipe systems include hinged pipes, which take any slope between -25° and +25° facilitating the installation of side pipes.

Special pipes

INSPECTION & CONTROL PIPES

Lipped piping systems include inspection pipes and control pipes. They are applied in flour mills but also in general in critical product flow positions.
