Cleated Incline Belt Conveyors for Small Plastic Parts Transport

Cleated Incline Belt Conveyors for Small Plastic Parts Transport

.
The Challenge: Preventing Material Back-Slip on Steep Inclines
A plastic injection moulding plant required a reliable solution to transport small plastic components at a steep 40-degree incline. Standard flat belts were unsuitable, as the lightweight plastic pieces tended to roll or slide backwards, causing production bottlenecks and material loss.
.
The Solution: Custom Cleated Belting (Modular & PVC Options)
We engineered two distinct belt conveyor solutions tailored to the client’s specific layout requirements:
  • IntraLock Modular Belt (Blue): For maximum flexibility, we utilized a high-durability IntraLock modular hinged strap. This system allows for custom-spaced cleats (flights) to be mechanically fixed, providing the positive lift needed to overcome the 40° angle.
  • PVC Heat-Sealed Belt (White): For applications requiring a smoother surface, we supplied a PVC webbing belt featuring heat-sealed top cleats. This ensures a permanent, hygienic bond between the cleat and the belt, ideal for small-part containment.
.
The Result: Efficient Vertical Elevation
Both systems successfully eliminated material back-slip, allowing the plant to elevate small plastic parts within a compact footprint. The use of cleats ensures a consistent “pocket” of material is moved with every rotation, regardless of the steep conveyor angle.
