Industrial Cyclone Separator for Recycling Dust Extraction

High-Efficiency Φ1200mm Industrial Cyclone Separator for Recycling Dust Extraction

.
The Challenge: Achieving Near-Filter Efficiency Without Filter Media
A metal and plastic recycling facility required a robust solution to manage high-velocity, abrasive dust within their suction lines. Standard cyclones often allow too much fine particulate to escape through the exhaust, putting excessive load on downstream bag filters. The challenge was to design a purely mechanical centrifugal separator capable of achieving a “near-filter” degree of separation, even with the varied particle densities found in shredded recycling streams.
.
The Solution: Enhanced Vortex Geometry & Reinforced Construction
We engineered a heavy-duty Industrial Cyclone (Φ1200 x 3000 mm) featuring advanced aerodynamic modifications:
  • Extended Vertical Exhaust Downpipe: To significantly boost separation efficiency, we prolonged the internal exhaust pipe deep into the cyclone’s main body. This forced the incoming dusty air to remain in a downward vortex for longer, ensuring that even finer particles were driven toward the walls and into the collection hopper by centrifugal force.
  • Heavy-Duty 4mm Mild Steel: Given the abrasive nature of metal and plastic fragments, the entire unit was fabricated from 4.0 mm thick mild steel, providing a much longer operational life than standard thin-gauge ducting.
  • High-Volume Airflow Management: The Φ1200mm diameter allows for high-throughput dust suction, effectively stripping the air of solids before it reaches the final stage filtration.
.
The Result: Reduced Maintenance and Filter Longevity
The custom-designed internal geometry achieved a degree of separation comparable to a standard bag filter. By capturing the bulk of the dust mechanically, the recycling plant drastically reduced the frequency of filter bag changes and maintenance on their primary fan, leading to significant long-term operational savings.
